Mexican Quinoa

The summer heat and humidity are no joke. I thought the summers would be less intense in New Jersey than what I had been use to in Richmond... but it didn't dawn on me that being only 45 minutes from the ocean would equal the same humidity. To beat the heat, we've been eating more salads lately (and ice cream!) and in an effort to add variety, I made this dish. It can be easily adapted to whichever ingredients you prefer and/or have on hand. It also makes a great lunch or dinner, side or entrée!

Farmhouse Favorites

Travel Tuesday: Savannah

With fourth of July weekend having come and gone, I was remembering the trip Mike and I took last year to Savannah and Tybee Island. At that point, we were one month into what would be our 10 month long-distance relationship. At the time, he was in Atlanta, so I flew down and we made the four hour drive to Savannah's beach, Tybee Island (see our Tybee trip here) for Independence Day.

Fourth of July Menu

It's time to fire up the grill and pour yourself a glass of lemonade! Since Memorial Day, the charming towns neighboring us have kept their streets adorned with American flags raised from each utility pole. It's like stepping back a few decades into a small town and I love it!
