Baby Carriage Watermelon

I made this carriage for one of my good friend from college's baby shower. It was so much easier than I thought, but it was time consuming. Allow about 2 hours from start to finish.

First, cut a wedge out of the watermelon like the top left picture. Save that piece because you will use the rind for the stroller handle.

Next, take a melon scoop and begin scooping out the watermelon. This is the most time-consuming part. (See middle picture). Place the watermelon balls in a large bowl, like below.

Finally, scallop the top edge of the watermelon with a sharp knife. I used Amanda's husband's pocket knife! (See far right picture).

Add some of your favorite fruit to the bowl.

Using toothpicks, stick grapes and orange slices into the base of the watermelon to form the wheels.

To form the handle, take the original wedge piece you cut out and form a long rectangular piece. Place into the fruit to keep it in place.

The beautiful display of the delicious snacks at Amanda's shower!

Amanda, myself, and baby Conner! (How amazing does she look at 8 months!?)
