5 Layer Dip

  • Refried beans with chiles
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Sour Cream
  • Mexican blend finely shredded cheese
  • Green onions (for garnish or topping. Call it a 6 Layer Dip if you want to get technical!)
  1. Spread each of the ingredients in layers in a clear pan (so you can see the colors!) as listed in the order below.
  2. Serve with Scoops or you favorite chips
  3. Invite your friends and enjoy :)

Recommended drink pairing: Venus Fly Trap!

Venus Fly Trap!

This drink was in lieu of the 1986 movie, Little Shop of Horrors. Grab your friends, a copy of the DVD and pair this drink with my 5 Layer Dip recipe! You'll have all your guests saying "feed meeee!"

Serving: 1

  • one part fresh Lime Juice
  • one part Melon liqueur (such as Midori or DeKuyper)
  • two parts Tequila (my preferences arer 1800 Silver and Patron Silver)
  • one part Triple Sec
  • Ice
  1. Combine all ingredients and pour over ice and enjoy!!

Grilled Shrimp (Father's Day 2012)

  • Large, deveined shrimp
  • Butter, melted
  • Fresh garlic, minced
  • Freshly ground salt and pepper
  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter; add garlic, salt and pepper; stir thoroughly.
  3. Cook shrimp over foil (to prevent dripping) and spread the butter mixture evenly over the shrimp. Flip after 3-5 minutes and coat the other side of the shrimp.
  4. Remove from the grill and enjoy!
*Pair with Sirloin Steak.

Sirloin Steak (Father's Day 2012)

  • Appropriate amount of steaks for your crowd
  • A blend of your favorite seasoning (we used McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning)

  1. Preheat the grill (I did medium-high heat)
  2. Since these steaks were pretty thin, they cooked for a max of 3 minutes on each side.


Pair with Grilled Shrimp.
